The new app is buggy and soooooo slow to load. The previous iteration was the best UK news site app by far. Back to the Guardian I guess.

Fails to load content and crashes repeatedly. Just uninstalled it and gave up. Wish I could have the old one back. Wont be hanging around for fixes.

I used to use this app every day. The new version is so slow it has become unusable

I used to love browsing through the independent app on my phone then one day it transformed into this painfully slow, unusable mess. Dont bother downloading if you dont have it already, and do not upgrade if you do! Half of it wont load and it takes years to scroll.

This very new app is slow to load. It even has an apology notice when it is too slow. Today after loading the app froze in the middle leaving a plain white wall on the screen which nothing would remove. I use iPhone 5. So I uninstalled and reinstalled. It loaded properly but took its time opening individual items. I am sure there will be upgrades. There must be. Since I wrote this there has been an upgrade but the American phrase "like molasses in January" accurately describes this site. Also I see that no reviews are indicated but I did review this app some time ago. Suspicious!

The old app had subcategories. I used to be able to check out Rugby and Cricket news. Now sport is just swamped by Soccer in one big list. This is especially irritating during World Cup season. No Food and Drink section anymore. Shame. The crossword clue layout is appalling. Scroll up, to see the grid, scroll down to view the down clues. Scroll within the down clues to read the clue. Scroll back up to grid. Very poor user experience. Very latest version launches quicker (thanks!) but some sections still take an age to load. Content, 5 stars. App 1 star.

This is the third major revision of this app. The first Independent app was quite reasonable. With each further revision it has gotten worse and worse. The current app takes ages to load. The content is not properly formatted for an iPhone. The app frequently crashes. All in all its a total disaster.

Even worse after "update": Very slow download and...wont open anymore !

They need to fix this. Slow, cumbersome - and wont connect to Facebook no matter what I do .

I just deleted the app because it was so frustrating to use. Many revisions have not improved the app. Emails to support didnt achieve any improvement. Pages load VERY slowly if at all. crashes frequently for no apparent reason. Download the Guardian app for a paper that knows what digital news means. Dont waste your time with this app.

Every time you click on a story it transfers immediately to safari and a Google add webpage!

As in the previous review it automatically opens safari and sends you to a google page. Really?

This news source is phenomenal. They have extremely little bias, if any.

Great App indeed. I read it daily and its always very interesting. Doesnt stick to the same old narrative. Highly recommended

Like others, it is refreshing to read an alternative view to UK/world news. Read the Guardian on a daily basis but wanted to see the Independents coverage of the recent parliamentary election and its aftermath. Verdict still out re same.
